Malindi  Tropical  Nurseries

Welcome to Malindi Tropical Nurseries, the company was established in 1981 by Evie Walsh when she opened the first nursery in Malindi, situated on Kenya's north coast. In 1995 the company expanded to include a new 25 acre nursery at Gedi, Watamu. After seven years studying landscape construction in Australia, Evie's son Simon joined the company and expanded the operation to Nairobi where he started a new two acre nursery in Langata. Through out this time Evie and later Simon have participated in landscaping projects both large and small all along the Kenyan coast and in the Nairobi area. Working for hotels, camps and commercial properties such as Blue Bay Village, Coconut Village, White Elephant, Malindi Casino, Lion in the Sun & Armani Beach Resort in the Malindi Area. Up country companies such as Ol Jogi Ranch, Amboseli Lodge, Saasaab, English Press Factory, Vita Foam, Migumo Nandi Rd., Kilalinda in Tsavo and Kigwenga Strand on the island of Zanzibar and many other private establishments.

Plant Nurseries We have three nurseries, two are situated on the Kenya coast one in Malindi which has become more of a show garden than a nursery, providing seed and an example of mature specimens of the available plants. The other in Gedi which now comprises of 12 acres of nurseries and gardens plus 13 acres of indigenous forest and one in Nairobi specializing in succulents, Mediterranean species and tropical plants. All have a large variety of palms, tropical plants, shrubs, ground cover plants, succulents,   and trees both indigenous and exotic. Nurseries are open to the public, however prior notice by phone is necessary to arrange a guided tour.
